5 days and 5 weeks

Sunday just past was 5 weeks into a ‘5 day’ repair for my MBP. Other than learning some of the things you can do with fetchmail, I have also learnt that it’s utterly useless trying to contact the particular Apple store via the telephone - you might as well just burn your money instead. The only thing you can do is email them and wait for 48 hours before getting a reply..

As per the post in the comments on the 750 page, the last update I had from them was for something to perhaps be ready last Friday. I did email them on Sunday after nothing happened, so I’m just waiting for a reply. Hopefully I’ll get one tomorrow.

For a company so renown for the user-interface and the ‘experience’ some of their after-sales support leaves a lot to be desired..

I had a phonecall that my MBP is currently on a boat from China, so I’m looking at another 3 weeks (!). A 10% discount card is in the post which I can use at the Apple store in Birmingham, but still, i’d much rather have the machine back.

I’ll be dismantling part of the home entertainment system in order to liberate my old minimac and get on repairing and creating those things which have been waiting with that instead. I’m not looking forward to using a 1.5ghz G4 instead of my 2Ghz+ Dual core machine…
