iMovie 08
My replacement MBP came with iLife08 - brilliant. Time to give this new movie editing program a bit of a workout, and see if those people who think it’s a massive step backwards are right - or if its ease of use outweighs any missing features..
Firstly, the finished product :

I have to say, I have used iMovie HD previously to edit videos together (the grass autotesting stuff was done with it), and while it’s good, it’s certainly not perfect (or bug free in my experience). iMovie 08 is a step forwards - no, a leap forwards in terms of ease of use and ability to quickly throw things together. I did miss a couple of things (some visual effects would have been nice, like reversing clips), but it made putting that video together a breeze.
The built in sharing to YouTube is also a masterstroke, makes it very very simple to use.
I also made the sound track edit in Garageband - the first time i’d used that application - also very easy to use and impressive. Just grabbed the section of the Song I wanted (’Fix You’, by Coldplay), faded it in as I wanted, exported the file and then fed it in to iMovie, all done in minutes.
In summary then - if I hadn’t had the free upgrade, I think I would still have put down the £55 for the upgrade, it’s very, very good indeed.

Just to add, the Flash version above, and currently gracing the IMOC homepage was created using Visual Hub and the JL FLV Player to embed it in the page.
