Musicovery : interactive webRadio

Have to say, I’m a big fan of Pandora, and I’ve been using it for a while. The basic idea is that you initially prime the system by telling it what kind of music you like (either a song, or a band), and it then starts pulling in other music which is ’similar’. You can then give those songs the thumbs up, or thumbs down, depending on if you like it or not. Eventually you’ll hone in on some new bands who play music you like - which is brilliant.
I had a quick go with Musicovery, and while it’s got a bit of a flashier interface, their business model means that you only get low-bitrate music unless you pay for it (fair enough) - whereas, Pandora gives you the full bitrate music, but there is advertising on the page. Pandora also limits the number of songs you can skip within a certain period of time.
One of the other important things is the range of music available. Pandora seems to have an ever increasing range, so you can come back, and they will have added more things, which you’ll like, and which you haven’t heard before. This really is the power of personalisation, applied to the radio - and I like it.
